Research Associate

J.L. Partners is looking to hire a Research Associate to join our insight and strategy business. J.L. Partners is a US-based polling and analytics firm, conducting both qualitative and quantitative research. This is an opportunity to develop a career at a fast-paced, growing organization, which was the most accurate in the 2024 US election.

We are looking to build on our strong and recognized brand through delivering more exciting work advising senior politicians and campaigns, business executives, leading think tanks, media outlets, and a range of other organizations. 

We are looking for individuals who have strong data and communication skills and a passion to understand how people think. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in quantitative research but also includes aspects of qualitative research – with plenty of opportunity as we move into the 2026 election cycle.

We are a small team, so this will suit an enthusiastic self-starter who can work well independently and with others. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manipulating and processing data collected from private opinion polling using statistical software

  • Advising and assisting the core team with client projects, related to analytics and quantitative research

  • Project managing data collection exercises

  • Modelling and analysing data to identify and capture key points research findings

  • Visualising data for use in presentations and briefings

  • Assist with recruiting participants for qualitative research projects (focus groups, interviews, etc.)

  • Manage outreach and communication with research participants

  • Providing advice and insight to the core team

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a market research setting or equivalent

  • Experience with programming languages - R preferred

  • An excellent academic record, including a Bachelors or Masters degree, ideally with a component related to statistics and or programming/data science

  • Ability to manage time effectively and tight deadlines; flexibility to adapt to different projects and client needs

  • The ability to visualise complicated data in the simplest possible way 

Desirables:

  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills

  • An educational or professional grounding in statistics

Location:

We do have a NYC office but this role can be based remotely. There may be an occasional need for meetings or travel in person, either to NYC, DC, or focus group locations.

Research Intern

  • Duration: 1-3 months+

  • Location: Remote

  • Compensation: $18/hour

This role is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in qualitative research, including participant recruitment, logistics, and insight development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with recruiting participants for qualitative research projects (focus groups,interviews, etc.)

  • Manage outreach and scheduling communication with respondents

  • Conduct desk research and background scans as needed

  • Attend internal meetings and contribute ideas and insights
